Third Sector & Social Enterprise
“Public services learn from the problem-solving spirit
of social enterprises, which can help the improve the quality of public services
by shaping service design and by pioneering new approaches that can influence the
way services are delivered” - Office of the Third Sector.
As Government strives to introduce contestability and choice into the delivery of
public services, there is a new emphasis on promoting ‘third sector organisations’
as providers of public services. Many of these are social enterprises
established by former public sector managers under the 'right to request', or new trading ventures promoted by existing charities
or not-for-profit organisations. We are actively working with social entrepreneurs and established third sector players in education, health, social care and leisure services to build sustainable new business models
for delivery of a wide range of services to the communities they serve.
We have
advised on a wide range of formats, including Community Interest Companies, Community
Benefit Societies (I&P Societies) and community development trusts. We guide our clients through
the myriad of legal
and regulatory issues, such as procurement and contracting, TUPE and pensions issues to help them build
a sustainable business.
We are an NCVO approved business consultant on legal and governance issues.
