Largest Schools Partnership Contract Signed

January 2006

We advised Northamptonshire County Council on a 32 year PFI contract with Northampton Schools Limited Partnership owned by Babcock and Brown Properties. The deal signed on 22 December 2005. The contract is worth around £1 billion over its life and will bring in capital investment of over £200 million to 41 schools in Northampton. The successful consortium includes Amey as facilities management provider, Galliford Try as constructor and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation as senior lender.

Our team was led by Director Graham Burns, assisted by solicitors Matthew Wolton and Ann-Marie Davies.

Graham Burns said: “This innovative partnership project will bring much needed capital investment into the schools estate in Northampton. This was a particularly complex and challenging project involving new state of the art BSF standard wording which will act as a precedent for the Government’s new initiative to transform the Country’s school estate. We are proud to be associated with the largest schools partnership contract to date which will be a forerunner for the next generation of Building Schools for the Future projects. It underlines our commitment to and expertise in the education sector."
